L’Idiot Savant

I am loving this tee by Bill McMullen. Check it out at 2K.

Typotheque : Pocket Calendar

Do you need a new sketchbook? Do you like big chunky type? Well I do! Typotheque has released a nice limited edition pocket sized calendar/sketchbook. It includes most major international holidays on the calendar and a nice mix of graph paper patterns to doodle in. Pick it up here for about $20 depending on the currency conversion.

Eco Cool | Mini E

Available soon to the US is the Mini E, an ALL ELECTRIC 204 hp engine and a 0 to 60 in about 8 seconds. That’s a lot of pep for an electric! It can also travel up to 150 miles on a full charge. Speaking of charge, it only takes 2.5 hours to get a full charge. The only draw back, only 500 are going to be leasing in 3 states. California, New York, and New Jersey to commercial and private parties. I am working on getting on the list.

Eco Cool | Audi A1 Sportback Hybrid

This concept from Audi is probably the coolest looking hybrid vehicle concept out there. The Audi A1 Sportback is powered by a 1.4 liter TSI gas burning engine equipped with both a turbo and supercharger (INSANE RIGHT!) and a 20 kw electric motor. In Hybrid mode the 2 engines propel the A1 from 0 to 60 in like 8 seconds. Now that isn’t blistering fast but for a hybrid that is peppy. There is an all electric mode too that can drive for 60 miles without using gas. Not bad! All that and it looks pretty freakin’ hot. It’s slated for a 2009 production and should be hitting the US market for sure. I can’t wait personally, this could be my next car.

New Site & Blog on the way

Just so all of you who visit my blog (all 6 of you) know. I have a new portfolio site and fresh new blog on the way. This is why I have been so slow to post on my blog now. I am spending most of my free time getting those together. It should be with a month or so. Thanks for being patient. When they go live you should expect all of the old mixes I took down off this blog there as well as new ones. Thanks BLee for helping me out with Word Press too!

Tom Koh at Mobius Tonight

My homie Tom has an art opening at Mobius in K-Town tonight. If you live in LA check it out there should be some great work there. Congrats Tom!

Desperate For Love

Desperate For Love is a lush short film comprised in Bran’s Psst! Pass it On style involving some pretty stellar talents in the motion biz. Curated by Ryan Dunn of Vitamin Pictures, the six piece exquisite corpse moves from director to director with ease to the soundtrack of Over the Rhine’s aptly titled “Desperate for Love.” Great work everyone.

Young Guns 6

Here’s a shot of me and Stephen trying to get our drink on at the Young Guns 6 opening party. I as well as 49 other artists/designers were honored with our award that night. It really was an honor because there was such a great pool of people this year they had to choose from. View the winners work here.

Modern Rockers | Mod Rocker

The Mod Rocker by Iglooplay is probably the coolest chair you can buy for your kid. The form and material invite kids to play, read or simply relax. In the Walnut finish, my favorite, it looks incredible and comfortable. There is an option to add a seating pad but I like it without. The prices aren’t too bad either running in the range of $285 to $385 depending on the finish. My kids will definitely have one of these to sit and read in.

Modern Rockers | Savannah Rocker

The Savannah Rocker is designed by Jolyon Yates and is simply stunning. It’s a reclined rocker and has a flowing unibody construction. It is sculpted from birch ply. Prices are upon request so don’t expect this baby to come cheap. Think of it as functional art for your butt.

Modern Rockers | Eames Shell Rocker

At a slight friendlier price of $450 is the classic Eames Molded Plastic Shell Rocker. They come in an assortment of colors and are actually pretty darn comfy. It may not be the most original choice but you can’t beat the classics right.

Modern Rockers | Stingray Rocker

I thought a nice series of postings would be modern rockers. To start this beautiful rocker designed by Thomas Pederson is absolutely perfect. It somehow feels modern and warm at the same time. It could be due to the warm molded wood or bright punch of warm green on the fabric upholstered version. It’s also insanely expensive so if you have about $4500 laying around then it is the option for you. This is definitely on the high end of the spectrum.

Happy 30th Birthday George

I just wanted to post a Happy 30th to George Strategakos. He’s one of my best friends from childhood. We’re still good homies. He’s practically my brother. In celebration I am posting this image from the Greek Islands. See you there next year for the big wedding celebration Geo. Hope you have a fun night out.

Mixes Are Coming Back

Hi everyone. I appreciate all of the suggestions for finding space for me to put up my mixes. I know it’s why most of you keep coming back to my blog. I love making mixes and even more sharing them with my friends so I found the solution. Check my mobile me idisk public page. Here I am uploading all of my past mixes so check back within the next few days to get the ones you may have missed so far. Thanks again for being patient. The link once again is here.

Over & Over by Mike Perry

While I was in Paris last week I saw Mike Perry’s new book “Over & Over” on the shelf of a hip clothing and book store. I was pretty psyched actually. I have been a fan of his work for a while way back before his books. I was in need of some dope hand drawn type and Mike was nice enough to lend me some for a project. Well anyways, the book is pretty much awesome so I’d drop by his site and shell out some lunch money. It showcases hand drawn patterns by artists and designers from around the globe including my buddies at I-Manifest. Maybe I should get Mike to put me in his next book. Hey Mike, I draw too!

Psst! Pass it On 3 Preview

Here is a sneak peak at me, Tom, and David’s contribution to Bran’s Psst! Pass it On 3 series. It’s a basic tale of fear, racism, and hate. The style is geometry meets film noir. Look for more in October when the entire series including many other awesomely awesome talents in the motion biz release them unto the world.

Si Scott Playing Cards for Smoke & Mirrors

Si Scott does what he does consistently and well. He makes beautiful flourishy type by hand. Now you can have his amazing talents on your next deck of cards. This deck by Smoke and Mirrors are beautifully crafted and look fully functional as a real playing deck, not just for show. Pick up a deck here at Theory 11, although I don’t see a price on them.

Old Mixes

So I have had quite a few requests for my old mixes to be uploaded. The unfortunate news is that I am out of space on my server with Media Temple and since I am uploading these out of the kindness of my heart I don’t see that happening as of now. I get really really cheap hosting with them now, it’s practically free, but to upgrade would mean me having to spend quite a bit more each month. If anyone has any solution or if I can get enough people who would donate to the cause (which I know may be illegal ) to help me cover the extra cost. The best I can do now is to say, check my blog out frequently and get the mixes while they are fresh out of the box. Thanks for all of the support and kind words though. I really do appreciate it!
