Bacon Flavored Vodka

Ok, so I am not a huge fan of flavored liquors. I think vodka flavored vodka and gin flavored gin and tequila flavored tequila works just fine. But wow, you put bacon on anything and it makes it INSTANTLY delicious. So why stop with burgers or ice cream. Why not put bacon in your vodka too. Now what would you do with this sort of liquor you ask? Well, it’d be great in Bloody Marys or just fine shaken straight up with a bleu cheese stuffed olive. You could also use it for cooking too. Imagine it in some delicious stew or marinating a steak or burger with it. If you are curious at all about these drop by this amazing little flickr page where the flavors don’t quit with bacon. Now if we could just get bbq rib flavored gin then all would be right in the world.

Hendricks Gin

For the passed 2 months or so I have switched back to drinking Gin from Vodka and I am glad I have. Gin has a much more unique taste and a way smoother aftertaste. My choice for a while has been Hendricks. I discovered it about 4 years ago while I was waiting tables at Benjy’s back in Houston. Hendrick’s is by far the best there is. Add a little dry Vermouth and shake up a martini then garnish it with a slice of cucumber.

Negroni

This Italian concoction was invented in the early 1900s. Mixed with gin, Campari and sweet vermouth, it was named after Camillo Negroni in Florance who always ordered the same cocktail. Today Negroni is often consumed as a pre-dinner cocktail to stimulate the appetite for dinner. Aperitif is a European invention and it came to America in the early 1900s. Campari is also an Italian product, invented by Gaspare Campari in the early 1800s. If you like grapefruit juice then you’d probably love the Negroni. I am hooked. Next time you are out at a bar order one.
